A Charming Naidu Wedding In Malaysia

A Charming Naidu Wedding In Malaysia

In today's world, we see all types of love stories and the intense development in technology has led us to communicate with anyone from anywhere. However, distance has always ruined many potentially great love stories yet there are a few which persevered. This story is about an Assistant manager, Priya who fell head over heels for a doctor, Ram. This story is of how they fought through the hardships long distance brought. This story is the union of two souls who met on foreign land.

There's something about new places, you get butterflies in your tummy and you start wondering how life will be. My name is Priya and I moved to Alor Setar, Malaysia with my parents when I was 9. As a little child, I was always waiting for my prince charming. My wait finally paid off during my high school years. It was in the northern state of Kedah in Malaysia that I met Ram. Ram knew instantly that we'd go a long way together. Yet, we remained good friends ad didn't start dating until we went to college.

The biggest issue we had till now was long distance. Ram went off to medical school in Russia while I remained in Malaysia studying Accounting and Finance. During these six long years, we had many bumps but we also had many sweet stories during his annual visits. It was those Skype calls that kept us going.

Ram started working as a doctor in the General Hospital while I was the Assistant Manager for the New Accounts Operations for an Australian Stockbroking firm based in Kuala Lumpur.

Finally, we both felt we needed to move our relationship to the next phase, marriage. We had a traditional Indian engagement and ROM ceremonies in May 2016. After a few months, the wedding was held in the traditional Indian ceremony in December 2016 in Ram's hometown, Alor Setar. My family hosted a reception on 11th December 2016.

I am a very involved person who loves fashion. So, this was an advantage when we had to shop for our wedding. I was involved in every single detail, from customising the wedding cards to personalising our wedding garlands, to door gifts & tags, designing button badges for the bridesmaid & groomsmen, working on decor details as well as creating photo props.

I did most of my shopping after planning the outfits carefully. I flew down to Chennai with my mother and we got all my shopping done in March. I bought all my sarees for both engagement and the wedding from @varamahalakshmi-silks#. They had an extensive collection of pure silk sarees with a modern touch. I had a peacock theme in mind so I chose according to that. I also picked out a Koorai saree was a rich purple-pink Kanchipuram silk saree with peacock motifs on the pallu & bottom part of the saree.

For the reception from Ram's side, I chose to wear something simple yet elegant. I chose to wear a simple lehenga in red with a touch of pink & gold from @kay-the-fashion-bay#, Chennai while I had my blouse in Hot Pink customised with @paroksha#. I purchased a modern saree gown in Mint Green as I was looking to go for a modern fusion look.

During my second visit to Chennai, I took my wedding planner Ms Kayla along with me. We purchased a sherwani suit from Sri Kumarans Store. The suit was made from cream colour brocade fabric with embroidery work while the churidar pants were in deep red. This matched well with my red-pink lehenga suit.

I chose an American diamond bridal set with peacock motifs and a simple Kundan necklace set for the reception. The makeup was done by Ms Santy from Santy's personal touch. The makeup for my side of reception and nalangu ceremonies was done by Ms Suzie of Dolled up By Suzie.

Ms Kayla from D'Kayla Dream Events helped us a lot. She helped us choose all the right people. The food was taken care of Anandha Bhawan Caterers from Butterworth, Malaysia. Photography and Videography were covered by@byond-pix# lead by Mr Veatha Kumar. Mast Millennium performed on our reception night.

Weddings can be very stressful but with proper planning and effort, they can be very beautiful. I will always remember my wedding and will cherish the efforts of each and every person involved.
