How Soumya And Hari Planned The Wedding Of Their Dreams
I am Sowmya from Chennai. I was working with Amazon and currently planning to start up a business of my own. My husband Hari is also from Chennai and is working for a private firm.
Hari and I were class mates. One day I was scrolling through my Whatsapp and paused at this hulk’s picture. I realized it was Hari. I may seem extremely girly but I love comics and super heroes! Hulk being my fav, I couldn’t help but just talk to him!
At the end I found out that we were doing our UG in the same university for three years but never met each other! Funny how fate works! We have so much in common! Love for travel, superheroes, watching series, and books, Harry Potter and the list goes on! We soon became the best of friends!
During my final semester I realized I had started developing feelings for him! He is the type of guy every girl dreams about. The best friend/boyfriend kind of guy like Jim from The Office and Chandler from Friends. I couldn’t tell this to him or our gang! I was so scared of spoiling the friendship. Soon they started searching for an alliance for me but I was not into it. One of our mutual friend played cupid and rest is history, we told our parents and they were happy because they knew how close we were already! We dated for two years and he popped the question in July 2016 and we set our wedding date to Feb. 1 2017!
On the day of my wedding, to my horror I realized that I had forgotten to pack my shoes. The venue was far from my home and I had no idea what to do. My friends immediately came up with a plan and asked one of our friends who was on her way to buy a new pair. It was truly a Cinderella moment for me. Also my friends surprised by arranging a flash mob at middle of the reception. I could not have asked for more. It was the best day of my life.
I had solid one year to plan my wedding. I made to do list and started ticking off one by one. I started with my wedding venue. I knew I wanted to get married in Rina's Venue. I have always loved the venue. It just felt so right to have our wedding there. My parents were supportive of all my decisions. As soon as I told them that I wanted to get married there, they agreed. We immediately booked the venue.
Nachiappan uncle who was in charge of my decorations just brought my unique visions to life. We discussed every now and then about how the decorations should be. I wanted a rustic/vintage reception and I gave all my ideas to him. From lights to chairs and even minute details, I wanted everything to go with the theme. I did a lot of research and was sending him everything I wanted and he did not let me down.
My wedding reception was beyond beautiful everybody who came was so happy and personally told us how different the party was. I also made sure that the wedding Mandap was set in lawn. I always wanted to get married amidst nature! I gave Nachiappan uncle how I wanted the mandap to be and decided on fabrics and designs and he sure did give what I wanted. The mandap was so beautiful! Since my wedding time was 6 A.M to 7 30 AM it was truly magical!! It was my very own fairy tale.
Bridal wear
@palam-silks# has a special place in my heart. It’s my family destination when it comes for saree shopping. If I enter palam silks I can never come out without a saree. They have the best choice of colours and design and all of my sarees are from there. They know us and they were so helpful and patient enough in letting me decide my saree. I selected a beautiful red and gold combined silk saree which was truly mesmerizing! I just knew that this saree is the one and I have to get married wearing it.
Groom’s outfit
Hari is a loyal customer to Louis Philippe. We found the perfect suite. It complimented my reception dress perfectly.
Photo and Video
I have always loved Ashok Anna’s work from @aa-photography#. It has always been in my wish list that he should be the one who takes my wedding pictures! I was ecstatic when he said he is free and will cover my wedding!! The bright colours and the way he captures every emotion speaks loudly in his pictures! I was grateful that Ashok anna and team were a part of my wedding! I could not have asked for more! I have never seen such a dedicated team, they did an excellent job! They made sure that every single person who is important to me was there in the pictures and tirelessly worked through the entire event!! I have never seen any other photographers in a wedding work like this. They were the best!
Truly blessed that the team were part of our wedding, needless to say the pictures came out really well. The highlights video was the best! When we saw the video we had happy tears! It was like watching a movie!! It was that good and well made! To every bride out there if you want your wedding to look like a fairy tale, try to have Aa photography! The amazing pictures are lifetime memories and I’m beyond grateful to Ashok Anna and team to be part of our family. I will be reliving and cherishing every single moment via the pictures and videos.

I have always loved Akriti’s work from @mesmereyes-makeup# ! I have been following her work for years now and always wanted her to do my bridal makeup! She is one of the finest makeup artists in Chennai! She brings out the best features in you and gives you a striking look. She understood my vision and gave exactly what I wanted. She did a beautiful Rapunzel hair-do for me and truly it was so beautiful! I felt like a Disney princess! And my muhrtham look was subtle and classy. On the whole she took my wedding to another level with the makeup.
Mehendi Artist
@ayisha-mehandi-designer# did my mehendi. She is very talented. She asks what kind of art we want and gives just that. She did a wonderful work and I was happy with the way my henna looked.
Fashion Jewellery
I am a very simple woman; I do not like heavy jewellery. For me less is more so I always prefer looking elegant. I am a loyal customer of @narayana-pearls#. All of my imitation jewels are from them. They have beautiful collections!! So we got the wedding jewels from them.
Wedding Cake
My wedding cake was done by ensemble foods. Vandana is such a sweetheart! We discussed the theme and I told her I need a vintage type cake and she sent me some pictures and we finalized on a red velvet fondant cake. She delivered it on time and I was on cloud nine when I saw how amazing the cake was. It tasted so good; we could not get enough of it!
