A Traditional Kerala Wedding That Gives You The Feeling Of Authenticity

A Traditional Kerala Wedding That Gives You The Feeling Of Authenticity

Anjalli our very pretty bride tells us how she beautifully planned her wedding. Read on to know her story.

I'm Anjalli Sukumaran, a lawyer and blogger. I also have a jewellery line called 'Anjalli' online. The groom Ajay is an entrepreneur and runs a payment gateway in Europe and South East Asia. We met at a party around 5-6 years ago and stayed in touch on and off for a while. Our story is pretty much like a plot for a masala bollywood flick! We are two completely different yet similar people. And over the years I realised that no matter what, we can never be apart. A lot of fights and makeups later, we decided to tie the knot in 2017.

With just less than 3 months for the wedding, I had a lot of planning to do. But my dad came to my rescue! He got me a decorator, jeweller and photographer and also helped me with the shopping as well. All I had to do was to choose from the options given to me. We also had a small mohiniattam performance organised for the groom and bride's respective entries at the wedding hall.

I bought my saree from @rmkv#, Chennai. I decided to stay away from the regular reds and pinks that most brides opt for with overly embroidered blouses. Got myself a beautiful Lime green silk saree and designed a blue puff blouse with 'Pattu' detailing taken from my saree. RMKV is super hospitable and amazing when it comes to their collection and variety.

My jewellery was custom made at Maharani Jewellers, Kannur. My mom helped me with picking the sets and designed the Jhumkas. @oaks-wedding#, Calicut, did the photography and videography. I have always loved their work, so decided to book them a few months in advance for the same. The decoration was done by Leshma Flowers, Kannur, Kerala.

All the outfits were designed by me. For the pre wedding dinner I got Kasavu material from Kuthampully, Thrissur and made a pleated skirt and crop top out of it. My makeup was done by Anurita Chandrappa, a very popular bangalore based makeup artist. I absolutely love how effortlessly she makes you look and feel amazing. I'm still in love with the contour she gave me on my wedding.

I also followed a strict skin and hair care routine before the wedding and only used organic natural remedies instead of harmful chemicals. My parents have always been super health conscious owing to our defense background so I didn't really need to change my diet or fitness routine.

Ajay planned our entire honeymoon trip and made all arrangements all by himself just to surprise me. We will be heading to Europe in a couple of days to explore a few beautiful countries together!
