A Colourful Wedding Story Of Two Doctors
Dr. Rohini from Chennai and her husband, Dr.Naveen working in a government hospital at Vellore have been batchmates, fell in love and took their wedding vows at a beautiful traditional, South Indian set-up.
Let's hear it from the pretty bride herself.
"It's been 7 years since we knew each other. It all started when I was in my first year and he was in his second year. He was my crush but to my surprise I never knew that he also liked me One fine day, I got a message from this unknown no saying it was him and he likes me and wants to be friends with me, it all started there. Since then, nothing stopped us. We used to spend hours together and things between us got serious and we realized that we cant be without each other. We told our parents about our relationship and they were happy with our decision and things got easier for us
Our engagement wasn't really planned. It was a simple and private event for the relatives of both sides.
Our reception and wedding date were fixed in March and like any other girl, I was so excited for my wedding.
We had a simple mehendi ceremony at home followed by the reception and the wedding. We had only two months to plan and do the wedding shopping as well. It was quite a task.
I wore a mustard raw silk anarkali gown for my mehndi and I had done my own makeup and hair.
I got my reception lehenga customized from @studio-149-by-swathiclothing#. That was the best decision I made. the lehenga came out really well and it was everything that I dreamt of. They were so sweet to work with, they patiently listened to my suggestions and told what works best for my body type keeping in mind about our budget too. My expectations were fulfilled there. I got my reception shoes from Inc.5!
My husband's reception outfit was designed and tailored to perfection by SYED BAWKHER AND COMPANY. They are so professional and in the field for around 70 years and their work speaks for itself. My husband was a dapper in the suit. We got ruosh shoes for my husband from Mochi.
I got my wedding saree from @a-s-babu-sah# SILKS AND SAREES, KANCHIPURAM. I always wanted to wear a golden color silk saree with a red contrast border for my muhurtham and I was able to find one there and I just loved it. We also got the silk dhoti for my husband from there.
I bought my other sarees from @prakashsilksandsarees# and loved the collections there as well. I was happy with all my sarees.
My makeup and hair for both the reception and wedding was done by Viji from @bronzer-bridal-makeup-artist# and I loved how I looked both the days. I showed reference pictures for hair and eye makeup and she rendered it so well. Was happy with her service.
Decoration for the wedding hall was taken care by the in house decorator Mr.Pandian and he showed me many designs and patterns and it was a difficult task for me to settle with one! The design which we chose for our reception was done in the hall for the first time and it came out really well. It was neat, simple and elegant.
Photography and videography were taken care of by @ashokarsh-photography# and his team. Needless to say, everyone knows that they are the best in what they do. We had around 3000 guests to our wedding and they were very patient in clicking pictures with a smiling face. We received the entire set of pics in two days and we were so happy with the pictures. I am so thankful to them for capturing the moments of our lives so well.
A special mention about @sruthi-kannath#. I was very particular in getting my wedding blouse designed by her. Her work is so unique and she doesn't repeat designs and patterns. She did a brilliant job with my blouse as well and I loved wearing it. My other blouses were designed by J2 fashions boutique, Anna nagar, Chennai. I showed them few designs from pinterest and they executed it so well.
Most of my gold jewellery were from GRT JEWELLERS, T.NAGAR, CHENNAI. We are loyal customers for them for past 20 years now. Most of my jewels were antique and loved the collections there and got few jewellery from a shop in sowcarpet which we got to know through one of our relatives. My other artifical jewellery which I used for the reception was rented from a shop in Mylapore.
@madras-mehndi-studio-mms# by Sujitha Viswanathan was my Mehndi artist. She showed me many designs from the catalogue which she had bought with her and helped me to select best out of them. We had many guests and relatives who had come for the mehendi. They were very patient and did a good job with everyone. We had a fun filled mehendi ceremony and ofcourse memories to cherish.
The best part about our wedding was FOOD. Catering was done by MR.MOORTHY from Gayathri catering, Choolaimedu, Chennai. We had a widespread varieties having around 30 dishes for the reception dinner. Everyone who came to the wedding enjoyed the food and appreciated it. Each and every dish was very unique and lip smacking. People say that guests who attend any wedding will not talk about the hall or even about the bride and groom but will talk and remember the food for a longer time. In that way, our wedding food was a sure hit among everyone.
I want to thank all our vendors. everything was so perfect in every way possible!
As I said earlier, since I was at home for two months, I was able to take care of my skin. I prepared homemade packs using besan and curd. Also used other natural packs. Just applying raw tomato pulp will help your skin to glow and maintain its moisture. Had plenty of juices everyday, and also I made sure that I have tender coconut water everyday early in the morning. I also had carrot and beetroot juice before breakfast which exfoliated my skin and helped my skin to glow! Most importantly, I stopped using any chemical products to my face for last few months before my wedding.
We are planning to go Mauritius in a week and we have planned many things to do there. We are so excited and looking forward to the trip.
Indeed, it was a dream come true wedding for us. Everything was planned and executed to perfection by my Dad. We are so blessed to have this fairytale wedding amongst our parents, relatives and friends.
To all of the future brides, I want to say only one thing. Please do enjoy when you're planning and shopping for your wedding, this happens once in a lifetime and enjoy doing it like I did. Everything will happen as planned and nothing will go wrong and please do stay hydrated, have lots of juices and tender coconut water and don't try something different for the first time before your wedding. We would not want to risk anything at the last moment.
