Traditional Kongu Wedding Of A Bubbly Bride Who Wore Ravishing Outfits & Jewellery
Swetha our extremely beautiful bride met her husband Raajavignesh in a typical arranged marriage format. Read on to know her story.
My family comes from a perfect educational background. We run a school named AVB Matriculation Higher Secondary School. My father is the correspondent of our school. I was working in KCT as a project manager. In fact, my husband studied in KCT too but we have never met each other. He comes from a textile family. Initially when the horoscope matched I was very hesitant to get married. I wanted to get to know him and then decide. One fine day he gave me call and we spoke for around a week. After that my cousins and I met him in person in a temple. Two days after that we said ok to each other. One month from then we were officially engaged and we only had three months to plan our big day.
It was a mixed feeling. I am from a nuclear family and I was getting married into a joint family, I knew the expectation level from my in-laws was quite high because he was the only son with three sisters and I had some really big shoes to fill in. Although I was very happy to get married this whole situation was making me quite nervous.
Most of my saree shopping was in Perumal Silks in Salem. My muhurtham saree was from @shree-devi-palace-for-pure-silk#. It was a beautiful white saree. So it was my dream to wear an off white saree like the brides in Telugu wedding. I had a tough time in convincing my family but they finally agreed. Sridevi has very good bridal saree collections and a wide variety to select from. I found the exact saree I wanted in this store. My engagement saree is a pink one which was again from Sridevi.
My reception lehenga is a @sabyasachi-hyderabad# lehenga from Bangalore. Since most of my wedding outfits were sarees so I wanted something different for my reception. I am a big fan of thread work. So when I found this pretty floral thread work lehenga in Sabyasachi it perfectly matched my taste and so I picked it up.
Sangeeth was the first function of my wedding and it took place with close family members in a private property called S4 gardens. I wore a bottle green colour gown with golden colour stone work. It was from @varsiddhi# in Bangalore. I wore it in the north Indian style. My mehendi was only for the bride’s side of the family and for this I wore a dress designed by Smrithi’s. It was a simple dress but very colourful. All blouses were designed and tailored in my sister in laws boutique in Tirupur named A&D boutique. Her name is Sindya Viswanathan. She did a great job.My jewellery was from three different showrooms. @sumangali-jewellersshoppingretail#, @karpagam-jewellersjewelrywatches# and @joy-allukas#. I wanted a bigger choice. So I looked around in different stores for them.
My décor for the mehendi and sangeeth was by @bamboo-events# Srividhya. She is my husband’s close friend. She did an excellent job and for the wedding it was by Subbu decors. The food for the event was by Vellingiri in Tirupur. It was extraordinary. Most people said that the best part of the wedding was the food and the décor. We were also very particular about plate decorations. We did not want the decorations to repeat. My mother in law had around 150 decorated plates that she had got from Malaysia and apart from that we got a few from Raju decorators in R.S Puram.
Another highlight of our wedding was the entry of the bride and groom. He gave his grand entry in a chariot and I gave my elegant entry in a pallak. We got the chariot from Balu chariots in Ramanathapuram and the pallak from DMS decors through Srividhya. We also had a musical concernt by Mr.Shashank Subramaniam and Classic Chendai melam.
Photography was by @the-4toes#. I know them personally and have seen their work and loved it. So I had previously decided it was going to be them. They are a bunch of talented folks. We also did a pre wedding shoot in Cocoa Lagoon in Pollachi.
My mehendi artist was by Priya. She did a very good job too. Makeup was by @helens-la-femme-beauty-salon#. I have been her long-time client. Around 10-15 years. She knows my face and also knows what I like. Like expected it was very good.
The funny part of the wedding was the nagavalli seeru. It is my husband’s side custom. We had to play some games as a part of the ritual. I had to also sing a song to a fruit imagining it to be my baby. This was also a very nostalgic feeling because I remember singing the same song to my brother when he was born. I am a good singer and a classical dancer too. We had quite a lot of singing during my mehendi too. My dad and my uncles sat around me and sang songs for me. I also reciprocated with songs dedicated to my mom and dad.
We are going to spend our Honeymoon in Calodyne beach resort Mauritius. It’s a beautiful resort and we are going be there for one week. This was a complete surprise for me planned by my husband. He had also planned another surprise before the wedding. It was a treasure hunt. I literally opened every cupboard and looked through every shelf in the house to find out what the treasure was and finally found it. It was a beautiful clutch from Guess.
The home-remedy I followed was Vinegar. This a magic portion. You can drink it and also apply it to your face. First thing I did in the morning was to mix vinegar and lime in a tumbler hot water and drank it. This will enhance your beauty and give an amazing shine. You can also mix it with baking soda and apply it to your face for a good glow. I also did some regular sittings with my makeup artist.
