Bride of the month – August!
The long awaited bride of the month is here! Quite a few people have asked me when I would post the bride of the month feature and this has in turn motivated me. Thanks to all of you who have evinced interest. Here I present the bride of the month(August) Priyankaa Vijayakumar, a native of Coimbatore currently residing in the US. Excited, when asked about her wedding story, here she enumerates on the various plans she had for her wedding and how she went about it.
Prassath and I started talking a year ago. We got engaged in November 2012. We both live in the US and are currently in a long distance relationship and we are hoping to move in together later this year. Our wedding was a lot of fun and it was amazing to see and talk all the wonderful people who came out to see us.
The mehendi was on the 13th morning. Mine started at 6 am, and I had to be showered and ready before that so it was a bit exhausting as I’m not really a morning person ;). Guests were set to arrive at 9 am. We had about 60 people come in. My parents had lunch catered that afternoon for the ladies who got their mehandi done and for the wonderful men who drove them there. The mehandi artists finished my mehandi at 1 pm. I was asked to keep it on for 3 hours, so at the stroke of 4 pm,
I began the process of removing it, with the help of some friends. I then hurried off to have my hair and makeup redone in preparation for the photoshoot at 6pm. The photo-shoot continued on till 7.30 pm and we transitioned to the pool side location of our warm cocktail reception. The next morning, after some relaxation and rejuvenation, I left to the venue at 4pm. Hair, makeup and dress-up began shortly for the 7 pm Nalungu. Finishing on time, I stepped on the stage feeling nervous and excited for the next 2 hours. The next morning I was up at 2 am and made it just in time for the 6 am Muhurtham (trully the happiest day of my life

Hardships faced: Planning things while being a 12 hour time zone away was challenging. All this would not have been possible without a lot of effort and co-operation from both our families, especially my mom. This entire wedding was planned on emails, to-do lists and whatsapp pics from smart phones. It’s a wonder we managed to get it all done. Best part: Soumya and Radesh’s candid photography. They did an amazing job. I want to recommend them to everyone I know. Honeymoon: We went to Bali, Indonesia, for 7 days. We spent time in Khuta, Seminyank, Nasu dua and ubud. We stayed at the Royal Santrian in the Royal villa and the Laguna resort. We planned the trip ourselves, following helpful and wonderful online reviews on trip advisor. We went jet skiing, rode a motorcycle, relaxed on the beach, had some amazing food and spa treatment. It was fantastic!
