A Wedding That Looks And Feels Vibrant In Every Way Possible
This is a story of two love birds who started off their amazing journey through their parents. While Shruthi is an engineering graduate from CEG, Srinivasan is an Senior Software Consultant working in Los Angeles.
The duo met in the month of January and the wedding was destined to be on the 3rd of September 2017.
Let’s hear it from the beautiful bride herself.
“Even before people at home started seeking for an alliance, they got a proposal through mutual consent and that’s when I heard about Srini. Initially i was pretty apprehensive as it was unexpected and out of the blue, so I wanted to talk to him and then take things forward. The funny part was, we were supposed to meet on my birthday and it was exciting and scary at the same time. But that plan got postponed and the first time we met was at a family get-together. we spoke to each other and exchanged numbers. I liked his personality, a very practical, soft spoken, kind and compassionate person and all these made me say yes to him almost immediately.
Everything happened in a jiffy, so was our engagement ceremony. With only 5 days left for planning before he could leave to the U.S. It was like an adventure and not just a memorable day for us but for the whole state of Tamil Nadu. Yes, it was onJanuary 23rd, the day when Jallikattu protest grew wild. The whole city was blocked, everything including the guests, makeup artists, photographers, the outfits. Now that we think of it, it's funny but that day was pretty scary. Although, in god’s grace everything fell into place later that evening ,making it a very special day for us.
The wedding was planned 7 months later, on September 3rd. We had two events prior to the Muhurtham.
A mehndi, that took place at our residence, which consisted of only closest circle of family and friends. It was so much fun and emotional too.
We had a reception at Imperial Garden Kalyana Mandapam. The entry of bride and groom was made pretty enthralling by the Jandu Melam from Kerala. The highlight of the evening was when my friends surprised us with a dance performance and Srini knelt down on one knee to hand me a rose. Each moment that evening was purely magical.
I opted to wear a lehenga for the reception since Muhurtham was going to be completely traditional. About deciding the color for all my outfits, I was stubborn about ditching the usual, stereotyped bridal shades. I found one in Yellow from Diva. Loved the intense color and exquisite work so I picked it right away.
Srini wore a Bandhgala suit for the reception. It was entirely customized for us from Raymond,Chennai & they did an amazing job.
We had 5 priests to take care of all the rituals for the Muhurtham, they made all of it enjoyable too(helped a lot since I was blanking out a bit at that moment). Minutes before tying the knot, everyone on the stage sang Seetha Kalyana Vaibhogame, the big moment was just divine.
Talking about the sarees, One was a peacock shaded kanchipuram saree for pre-Muhurtham. This color was always in my mind when i went saree hunting and I was lucky enough to find the perfect shade at Diva again.
My muhurtham attire was a traditional saree with a mix of my favourite colours - rose, peach and gold from Prakash Silks and Sarees, Kanchipuram. The jewels are from GRT Jewelers, most of the collection was saved by mom over the years.
Few of Srini’s attires were from the US, for muhurtham he paired the silk dhoti and shirt with an exquisite head safa from Pothys.
It was not just me but my in-laws and cousins planned their looks too. They came up with a theme and decided to pick sarees of same shades from Prakash Silks again.
My makeup and hair was by Manickam and team who work for Sun TV. His service was note-worthy and he was very punctual indeed. I loved both the looks and I received a lot of compliments too.
Food was one of the biggest compliments of our wedding, the menu, buffet arrangements, taste was appreciated by all the guests. Balaji Catering service took care of all the needs and gave us no pressure.
Photography for both the events was by Vipin. Vipin, Gautham and team are a bunch of talented folks. They guided me with decor ideas and gave many suggestions as well. Apart from shooting the entire ceremony, we also did a post wedding shoot in Radisson Blu Resort and in some exotic locations in ECR.
Special mention about my Mom, Dad, my in-laws, uncles and cousins who put all their thoughts, time and energy into making this occasion truly special for us.
For brides who don’t have much time to invest into self grooming like me, just make sure your skin is moisturized and hydrated well at all times.
