Bride of the month - October'14!

An IT professional, native of Neyveli and an ardent follower of Shopzters, Abinaya is the bride of the month and is here with us to share her wedding story! I love the nativity in her wedding pics and love her outdoor photo shoot pics even more and that is why I am gonna share her outdoor pics exclusively in a separate blog post. For now, enjoy the wedding story and the stunning pictures! :)

Hello everyone! This is Abinaya from Neyveli. I worked in TCS, Chennai for the past 2 years and my parents decided that it's time for me to get married and started searching for a suitable alliance and then we happened to meet my husband,Appu Ponnusamy and his family. They belong to Namakkal and he works in Singapore.

All of us met in a temple, liked each other and we said yes! Our families started to carry out the necessary procedures and our engagement was fixed on Feb 2nd, 2014 and marriage date was fixed on August 31st, 2014 which gave me ample amount of time to plan my big day.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my shopaholic friends who kept giving me ideas. Special mention to of course, Shopzters’ “bride of the month” column as it inspired me a lot. The best part of wedding was the presence of all my friends and cousin and to be frank they had more fun than me :D

For the engagement, I got saree from RMKV, Chennai and wanted to shop for the rest of the sarees in Chennai but my parents and relatives felt that wedding shopping can be done in Coimbatore as its near to our place and it would be easy for all our relatives to gather. I chose my muhurtham saree from Shree Devi. All my family members wanted me to buy a silk saree for reception too but I was very much stubborn to get a designer saree as they didn’t allow me to buy lehenga :( We went to a lot of shops but I was not satisfied with the designer collections and at last I found my reception saree at Shree Niketan. I also got few of the designer sarees from Moksha, Kay and Kalanikethan, Chennai.

All the blouses were designed and stitched by Trinity Tailors, Erode. They stitched my engagement blouse and it came out very well and so I gave all my wedding blouses to them. I should thank my mom and chithi as they took care of everything when it came to blouses and the designs.

We got my wedding jewels from @joy-allukas# and Prince Jewelry. I love antique jewelry and @joy-allukas# had various beautiful collections and it was very easy for me to get all the jewels in one place.

Coming to makeup, we booked @nancy-beauty-clinic#, Erode. Initially I had the mind-set that Chennai beauticians had more exposure to latest trends and they would be doing the best but my mom and relatives convinced me that @nancy-beauty-clinic# is best in town and so I said ok. I explained Nancy Aunty how I expect and she did it exactly the way I wanted and I was very much happy that we chose her.

I have loved taking photos right from my college days. So it's very obvious that I wanted the best for my wedding. For engagement, we booked Michael Brian Photography from Tirupur. They did a good job and we booked them for the wedding too. And then, I happened to meet @cwp# team in my friend’s wedding and I was very much impressed with their work and decided to book them for candid wedding photography and outdoor photo shoot. We booked CD Groups, Namakkal for catering.

The guests were very much pleased with taste of the food provided by them and so were we. Stage decoration was done by Ram Decors, Namakkal. Appu and I selected the decor and they made sure that the same was replicated. Particularly, they did muhurtham decoration extraordinarily well.

We went to New Zealand for our honeymoon! It's such a lovely place that all scenic lovers should visit once in life time. We travelled around the South Island. We went to places like Christchurch, Queen’s Town, Fran's Joseph glacier etc and we had a very good and memorable time there.

For brides to be: My advice is to drink lot of juices as it would make your skin look fresh and glowing rather than doing facials and bleaching. Drink beetroot juice in empty stomach in the morning as it gives color to our skin. And wrap up the wedding shopping few days prior to your wedding as you can remain tension free and enjoy the moments.
