A Story Of Sisters Who Had The Time Of Their Lives Shopping For Their Brother’s Wedding!
We know how brides and grooms feel about their wedding. We even know how the parents feel. What about siblings? It’s funny that we don’t talk much about it because these are the folks who have most of the fun! Sathyavathi did too. Here is how much fun she and her sister had at their brother’s wedding.
My brother’s wedding was something I had waited for years to happen. I couldn’t wait to shop my heart out! Once the dates were fixed, we began our shopping spree. We had approximately five months until the D-day. I went to popular boutiques in Chennai and Hyderabad. I wanted to keep up with the latest trends in the industry so I followed top niche designers like Sabyasaachi, Shyamalbhumika, Anushree Reddy etc on Instagram. There were 5 events in all and we wanted different looks for each function. We researched styles and visited numerous places to pick unique pieces for ourselves.
The Sangeet and engagement happened at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. I wore a red-orange Indo-western outfit that I picked up from @kay-the-fashion-bay#, Cathedral Road, Chennai and my sister wore a yellow pink anarkali that was bought from @issa-studio#, Hyderabad. This studio was really amazing. They had such vivid colors!
For the engagement we wanted to wear something really modern and classy. So the style we chose for this event was gowns. We took two months to find the perfect gowns. The gown idea was totally different and was a huge hit at the event. It was liked by many people from youngsters to aunties and even grannies! We got great compliments! *Our little celebrity moments*. The pink gown I wore was from @mokshaa#, Cathedral Road, Chennai and my sister's peach gown was from Fair Lady, Anna nagar, Chennai
Next came the Pellikoduku ceremony. We chose to wear crop tops with skirts this time.We browsed many designs for this style from the internet. We got the ones we liked stitched exactly like the ones we found online. I wore a blue crop top with red skirt and my sister wore a pink crop top with yellow skirt. We got these from Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
The next two big events were the wedding and reception. These two events took place in AVM Rajeswari, Mylapore, Chennai.

For the wedding, I wore a red pattu saree with green blouse and my sister wore a pink pattu saree with violet blouse. We picked our sarees from @a-s-babu-sah# Kanchipuram.
The saree selection was done very fast but the jewelry was the next biggest task to select, as we wanted to get a trendy design. Luckily before the wedding, there was a Gold Expo held in Chennai Trade Center for which jewelers from all over India exhibit their designs. The Gold Expo had brilliant and amazing collections. Over there, we picked ours from Chintamani Gold, Hyderabad shop. A must visit place for soon to be brides.
I was very keen on blouse designs as for any saree; the main attraction is the blouse. I chose a blouse design from Shilpa Reddy, Hyderabad.
The poola jadas were ordered from Pelli Poola Jada. The poola jadas were fresh and beautiful!
The final event was the reception and we chose Lehangas for this event. There was a lot of confusion in choosing the lehangas as there were plenty of designs everywhere. I wanted to go for a dark color (my friend’s order, as I had too many pinks already), so I chose dark blue lehanga from Rangroop, Anna nagar, Chennai and my sister chose a baby pink color with aqua blue blouse from the same shop.
So that’s how eventful our shopping experience was! I hope you guys got a lot of useful information that will help with your wedding shopping too!
