The “Meant-to-be” wedding of a Bahrain Bride and Chennai groom!
Love happens when stars align and destiny is on your side. It feels like the whole universe is cheering for you and helping you out. This is what happened with this Bahrain bride and Chennai groom. Priya, the bride moved to India from Bahrain to pursue her education. Though her groom, Ashwin and her studied at the same college for over 3 years, they did not meet each other until Ashwin texted her by mistake!
Late night conversations, mutual love for music, texting until their thumbs wore out and their Guru brought them together says the starry-eyed bride! Destiny made sure that Priya pursued her music lessons under Ashwin’s mom and she swears that they were just friends then. When the lovebirds told their parents about their interest in each other, to their surprise, both of their parents were elated and nodded in agreement without much hassle. The couple were engaged on March 30th 2018 and the wedding was held at Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Chennai on February 15th 2019.
This is what the bride has to say- "I started my wedding shopping much in advance. I got my sarees at Kanakavalli and A.S. BABU SHAH at Kanchipuram. That store is truly amazing! We were all so awed by the collections there. We spent nearly 8.5 hours in that one store alone!
My 9 yards Saree was from Prakash silks, Kanchipuram. My Mehendi lehenga was from Kalanikethan.
I ordered my floral jewellery from a page on Facebook called 'Bhuvana's Floral Venis'. It turned out to be classy and I was very happy with it.
For the Reception, I wanted to go for something different. I visited Kay fashions on Cathedral Road where I happened to see one gown that struck all of us and I didn’t look for anything else!
Coming to my Jewellery purchase-
Gold Jewellery I purchased at Tanishq (India), and also some from Damas, Devji and @malabar-gold-and-diamonds# (Bahrain)
Temple Jewellery Rentals from Swarna Prabhu Jewellers, Mylapore & Sagunthala Jewellers, Mylapore
Sangeet and Reception Jewellery was from @kushals-fashion-jewellery# (T.Nagar, EA)

My Mehendi was held at Luz House, Mylapore. It was slightly out of our budget but we had no regrets after the event took place!
The decor ideas were put together by my sister's friend who is the proprietor of “Paperstruck”.

Our honeymoon trip to Langkawi, was the loving wedding gift from my sister-in-law. We spent five magical days in Berjaya Resorts, which stretches along the Burau Bay and offers accommodation in chalets inside the rainforest. We travelled round the island zipping 50kms a day in our rented bike. We spent a lot of time at Oriental Village. We took the cable car at the foothill of Machinchang mountain to Top Station, where we headed to the Sky Bridge. It may sound like a cliché but the views from there are stunning and great for selfies.
Langkawi is known for its beaches. We visited the Pantai Cenang Beach, Tanjung Rhu Beach and Cenang beach.
Major attraction there is the Eagle Square, which is one of Langkawi's famous manmade sculptures. We also visited the underwater world and the 3D museum.
One of our biggest excitements at the Oriental Village was a man who made caricatures for RM 30 in just 30 minutes!
There are various restaurants like 'Fish and Chips','Laila Kebab' and ‘Marhaba’, which we tried, that served continental dishes and Indo-Arabic cuisines.
All in all, it was such a fun-filled wedding and we’d like to thank Shopzters for giving us the opportunity to share our story and help other brides out there!"
