A Wedding Story Of A Couple That Glistened Through Two States

A Wedding Story Of A Couple That Glistened Through Two States

A story of a super talkative girl and a guy who is shy who would barely speak to girls. We have seen stories like this unravel in movies and here is one such real life instance. Let's know their story from the most beautiful bride Poonam who would gradually take us through her beautiful journey of life.

"My husband Vijay and I met at Intel Corp at Hillsboro. We met at a lunch table at the cafe with a group of friends. He was this very shy guy who would barely speak to girls.  I was the super talkative girl who would keep talking all day and he would just listen.  It took him months to even talk to me. We became best of friends in a very short while. Being a foodie, he would try to impress me with his cooking skills. While he had feelings for me, I always thought of him as a friend.

But Vijay got a job at a different company and was planning to move to a different state. That is when it struck to me that maybe even I really, really liked him. I told him about my feelings for him and he felt the same way for me. One year later, he went down on his knees and asked for my hand in marriage with the most beautiful ring ever at Las Vegas. He even hired a photographer who secretly followed us around and captured the proposal.

Our families spoke to each other and fixed a date for November. Vijay is from Hyderabad and I am from Bangalore. We decided to have a wedding in Hyderabad and a reception in Bangalore. The first thing I did was to pick a makeup artist in both the cities. I had saved Kiinjal’s page almost a year back. She had dolled up one of my acquaintances and I loved the way she looked. She was my makeup artist for the reception. After a lot of research, I picked Afsha Rangila as my makeup artist for the wedding in Hyderabad.

Our most research went into picking the wedding photographer. Vijay and I spoke to almost 200 photographers in Bangalore and Hyderabad. We had a spreadsheet with prices, pros, cons etc for each photographer. We finally decided to go with @krishnam-photography#. We were so happy with our photography choice! Krishnam and his team are such a fun and enthusiastic young group of people! They beautifully captured our wedding festivities and gave us memories for a lifetime. The team was so professional, patient and passionate about photography.

Vijay’s family took care of everything related to the wedding. They arranged accommodation for my family and I, took care of the wedding décor, food etc. All we had to do was to show up. The wedding was held in Chandra Reddy Gardens. My poola jada and Kobbari bondam was from Pelli Poola Jada

I would call myself a control freak. I wanted to take care of every aspect of the reception that was to be held in Bangalore. We did not have a sangeeth. So I wanted the reception to be a very fun, informal event. We chose this place called Balan farms which is a beautiful open area surrounded by mango trees. I decided to get rid of the stage so we would not be restricted to just standing on the stage. I was looking for decorators and came across this group called Kraftstar led by Aastha. It was one of my best decisions ever! I hadn’t even seen the venue and all my knowledge was from the pictures I saw online. Aastha herself went to the venue, looked around the place, took some pictures for me. Purple is my favorite color and I wanted a purple themed reception decor. She clearly understood the concept I had in mind and suggested a lot of beautiful but budget friendly ideas. I got quotes from a whole lot of decorators but Kraftstar provided the most economical one. It was a flawless execution on the day of the event itself. A lot of my relatives mentioned how it was the best reception décor that they had seen ever!

A month before the wedding, we decided to have a small haldi and mehendi function. We decided to go with Pushpa Mehnedi arts. My mehendi work was so intricate and beautiful. For the haldi event my makeup artist was Chetna Mallya. She did a phenomenal job in the very limited time my family gave her to get me ready. The photographers for the haldi/mehendi event were The candid theory. They patiently waited to snap pictures till all the guests left.

As for my attire, my wedding saree was from @prakashsilksandsarees#, Kanchipuram. We literally saw at least some 1000 sarees before picking the one. My mehendi lehenga was from Koskii, Bangalore. My reception dress/lehenga was made by Sohum creations. They also stitched all my wedding related blouses. Sheetal ma'am from Sohum creations is such a wonderful and talented lady. All our communications happened through whatsapp. She designed each and every attire just the way I wanted! I bought my sarees 10 days before the wedding and Sheetal made sure my blouses were ready in time for the wedding.

I also had a dress change at my reception. I changed into a lighter Adrianna Papell dress. The groom’s wedding attire was from @mebazclothing#, Phoenix marketcity. The Reception suit was from Men’s wearhouse.

My family is Maharastrian and Vijays family is Telugu. We were having a traditional telugu wedding. My family was clueless about the customs and rituals of a Telugu wedding. I am very proud to say that my in laws took care of every aspect of the wedding. Even financially! My family had zero work at the wedding. My husbands family is very orthodox. And I am actually the first non reddy bride to join their family.

We had only 3 weeks for all our wedding shopping, arrangements and wedding festivities. As we do not have any more vacation days left this year, our honeymoon is in February at Cancun.

One of the highlights of the wedding, was the creative wedding invite made by the very talented Bohra sisters. They recreated our love story in the most beautiful way possible with a stop motion video.
