An Arranged Wedding Story Of A Kovilpatti Architect And A Chennai Businessman
For Nayanadhara, who met Vijay in a typical South Indian ponnu paakura scenario, everything was a dream come true. Let’s hear it from her while she speaks volumes of love to Shopzters.
Ours was a proper arranged marriage. I am an architect from Kovilpatti and my husband, Vijay is a business man in Chennai. We got engaged after 5 days from our first meet with the blessings of family and friends.
The first thing he told me was that he will take care of me forever. With that one gesture, I can’t help myself from nodding a yes to him.
A week after we started talking, It was like a perfect match. I had a different feel while I had just said okay to a guy whom I barely knew. Right after we started talking it was like a dream come true for me.
I insisted on going all traditional for all the 3 main events, namely the Nitchayathartham, the wedding and the reception. Since I did not prefer wearing a lehenga, I wanted all my sarees to be preserved for a longer period of time. Hence I chose the best of places to purchase my sarees. All my sarees were from different places matching different shades and moods. They were from @tulsi-silks-1#, @prakashsilksandsarees# , @a-s-babu-sah# and @kumaran-silks#.
We had Mehandi and nalunghu at my home, outfit for Mehandhi and nalunghu was picked from @kay-the-fashion-bay#, photography for these events were taken care by Unipix studios. My mehendi was by a person called Shanthi from Tuticorin and she did a great job.
All my blouses were designed by me and put together by a tailor called “Second skin”.He has been my tailor since a very young age and he is one person I am always comfortable with.
All my husband outfit were from @gabbana-life#, Chennai. Special thanks to the designer sheriff who made it to perfection and his shoes were from Aldo.
My wedding’s photography was taken over by @siraj-khan-photography#. The reception in Chennai was done by @vipin# and Vivek Menon.
My wedding and nitchathayathartham makeup was by @bronzer-bridal-makeup-artist#. She gave me a very bright look and I must admit that she is one of the most punctual artists I’ve come across. She kept improvising on my looks and made me look beautiful. For the reception in Chennai, my makeup was by @make-up-ibrahim#. Needless to say, he did an amazing job. He gave me a very subtle and elegant look. He is so good at what he does and he is such a perfectionist.
My wedding decorations were done by in-house decors in Kovilpatti called VSS decors. And for the reception in Chennai it was by Tara decors, they did excellent job, everybody was awe struck by the grandeur, simply the best we have come across.
My collection of jewellery was again a mixed one. I shopped at various outlets like, Jewel one, Kirthilals, Tanishq, GRT, JCS and Khazana. My diamonds were from @joy-allukas# and Saravana elite, Chennai.
The catering was taken over by chailji caterers and we had over 105 varieties of delicious food and everybody appreciated d choice of dishes, each and everything picked by my husband.
One of the most memorable moments to cherish was the surprise given by my husband. On the afternoon of our Nitchayathartham he had contacted some of my friends and God knows how, he threw a pleasant surprise by making them come home. He had made a photo collage frame of mine with lovely quotes on it and had asked my friends to give it to me. He had also arranged for a photographer to capture those moments. He then spoke to me over Facetime and I was awe-struck. After which i heard crackers bursting outside my house. Few of his friends were doing that while he came towards me in a brand new Harley Davidson forty eight. He insisted that he wanted to take me on a long ride and he had bought that Harley Davidson just for me since He like Harleys I love ride rides.
All I did before the wedding was have my face applied with a mixture of almonds and cashews ground with raw milk. It gave a nice glow and made my skin, look and feel softer.
