The Bright and Beautiful Engagement Story of Sobya and Kartik

Organising a two states Engagement, while residing in US is a herculean task indeed!  Yet, Sobya pulled it off  immaculately with the help of her parents! Sobya avers that it was a fun filled event particularly due to the two different languages that were spoken.

My fiancé, Kartik is from Hyderabad and I am from Coimbatore. It was a one year love story that led to a happy ending. Our engagement took place on February 17, 2016, that was decided by both our families. Kartik’s family and all his relatives came all the way from Hyderabad for the engagement. The conversations between our families were ultimate fun since they did not know each other’s languages completely. Since I live in the United States, my parents had a hard time selecting everything for my engagement. Irrespective of the time differences, I selected everything through Skype and Facetime calls.

My engagement took place at Jenneys’ residency, Coimbatore and their catering services took care of the buffet lunch, which was so delicious. They gave so many varieties of food and desserts. The decorations were also taken care of by them. They did it in a simple yet elegant way.

My engagement saree was bought from @mahaveers-the-silk-peopleclothing#, Coimbatore. And my blouse was designed and stitched beautifully by Purple designers, Race Course (Coimbatore).

My jewelry was all antique and my parents bought  them from @lalithaa-jewellery-martjewelrywatches#, Town Hall. My father is in the same field for many years and he was impressed with their quality. They worked on the designs just as we gave it and delivered on time.

Noor is a very talented makeup artist. He did a great job and everyone loved the look. His assistant did my saree draping and hair with lot of patience and his team was very friendly.

@vasudev-vijayan# is one of my good friend’s husband and I was so impressed when I saw his work. Kartik and I were so specific about the photography and his team did complete justice to our expectations. They were at the hall on time and were so efficient.

Overall, it was a complete event filled with happiness and fun throughout the day. Everything was perfect and all of us got along  well irrespective of our cultural differences.
