Bride of the month - April'14!
Meet Manjari, the young and beautiful bride of this month!
Hi Shopzters! This is Manjari Imayavaramban from Coimbatore. Around this time last year, I had just finished my undergraduate degree. Little did I know back then that I was going to getting married in the next few months. Here I am, less than a year later, sharing the most wonderful sequence of events in my life. My groom, Prabhu Selvaraj, is also from Coimbatore. He did his higher education in the US and works as a software engineer there. I have known Prabhu for more than 15 years now. Our families have been friends for over 5 decades. But neither of us knew we were going to be life partners. Our parents talked with each other and thought we would be a good match. They left the decision to us. We talked for a few days and we knew this was going to work out.
We said yes and there started the wedding spree. Everyone in the family were excited as it the first wedding in my generation. Meanwhile, Prabhu and I started to clock hours on Skype and over the phone day and night. The dates for engagement and wedding were finalized by mid?June. The engagement was to be held in September 2013 and wedding in February 2014. So we had enough time to plan for the occasions. For the engagement we bought both the sarees from The Mahaveers, Crosscut Road, Coimbatore. I was very particular that I wanted a red colour saree (my favourite colour) for the wedding which we got in the same place. We purchased my reception saree and a few other sarees for the pre and post-wedding ceremonies from Babu Shah, Kanchipuram. My gold and diamond jewellery were custom-made and purchased from jewellers in Coimbatore and Chennai. Costume Designing: I got my wedding costumes designed by different tailors in Coimbatore. Each and every blouse was custom made. Here goes the list of tailors. Anya Designers, Nyshka, The Golden Window, Studio A, Mohan Tailors, Flair designers.
Photography & Videography: Thanks to all the photography pages in Facebook! It made my search easy. Both the engagement and wedding moments were beautifully captured by @aishwarya-videos#, Coimbatore. The best part was their extraordinary candid photos and videography.
Catering: The catering was done by Madampatti R.Nagaraj of the Lakshmi catering service. They have catered for us in most of our previous family functions and they did not disappoint this time. The guests were very much pleased by the quality and the taste of the food provided by them and so were we.
Mehandi: I had Mrs.Munira from Peelamedu, Coimbatore for my engagement and Mrs.Poonam from Saibaba colony, Coimbatore for my wedding to decorate my hands and feet with beautiful mehandi designs. They did a wonderful job.
Makeup: Mrs. Uma from Erode did the make up for my reception and wedding. She made me look elegant with the right amount of makeup. The best thing about her is that she finished the makeup in a short time and gave plenty of time for the photographers to capture some vivid bridal moments before the ceremony. Backdrop: The backdrop for my engagement and wedding were designed by Ms.K.Ramya Swathi, a budding architect in Coimbatore. She is a close family friend of ours. We were very much impressed by her talent and work. She took care of the garlands too.
When we first set the dates for the wedding, we felt like we had lot of time to arrange everything. But all those months passed by like a flash and there was my big day on the 12th of February. In the end, we had just enough time to get everything in place for the wedding. So, if you ask me for one piece of advice, Wrap up the wedding shopping a few days prior to the big day so that you are well rested and good to go when the day comes. I thank Prasitha for letting me share the most treasured moments of my life with everyone.
